President's Award
One of Valspar's core values is safety, and with the dedication of all Valspar employees, we are one of the safest manufacturing companies in the world. In 2009, we achieved a world-class safety record of 1.04 recordable incidents for every 200,000 hours worked, a rate more than four times better than the average for the paints and coatings industry.
Environmental stewardship is another key operating principle at Valspar.
We're mindful of how we operate our facilities, working to protect the
environment by monitoring and reducing our emissions, minimizing waste
and promoting recycling. We're committed to making environmental improvements
to our materials and processes, and to developing products that minimize
environmental impact.
In an effort to raise awareness and encourage continuous improvement,
The President's Safety and Environmental Achievement Award was established
in 1994, calling on every manufacturing location to drive improvements
that eliminate injuries and reduce waste. This is one of the company's
greatest success stories.
Location representatives for the 2009 President's Award for Safety and Environmental Achievement were honored in Minneapolis.
